White House Opposes Affirmative Action, Bush
Returns Yale and Harvard Diplomas
"Quota systems that use race to include or exclude
people from higher education and the opportunities it offers are divisive,
unfair and impossible to square with the Constitution," Bush said
in a six-minute speech from the White House's Roosevelt Room. “That
is why I can no longer accept the undergraduate degree that I received
from Yale University or the MBA I received from Harvard University three
decades ago. I fully reject the social and racial advantages that allowed
me to be admitted to an elite educational institution while only a C
student. Opportunity in America will be equal for all.”
Bush continued his speech by announcing that he will
replace his Yale diploma with an associate degree from Lubbock Community
Collage, resign the presidency, and start a night job at a Chevron Station
off Route 40.
