political satire, bush satire, economic satire Bush Promotes Prominent Deficit Spender to Budget Director Karen Gorden, a prominent twenty-seven-year-old deficit spender and marketing manager became the new White House Budget Director on Tuesday. “Karen Gordon brings an impressive resume to the job,” stated President Bush. “Despite having no formal training in supply-side economics or economic stimulus packages, she has become a renowned deficit spender at a very young age. Karen Gorden has spent well beyond her means, creating an impressive personal budget deficit of $71,000 dollars. “Despite advice to the contrary, Karen has not only maintained her debt but has actually managed to increase her personal budget deficit for each of the last ten years,” said Bush in front of a Rose Garden crowd. “Karen Gorden is not going to be the type of Budget Director that will ask, ‘Do we really need to buy this new aircraft carrier?’ but the type of Budget Director that will say, ‘Get me two more and add a new strategic bomber wing while you’re at it.’ It is that type of deficit spending that can not be taught.” Karen promised that she would not raise taxes, describing the suggestion as “uncool.”
